Welcome to the Guam Energy Office
The Guam Energy Office supports energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy programs and practices, and is committed to understanding the energy issues of our island. As a line agency within the Executive Branch, the Guam Energy Office implements energy programs for the benefit of the island community, utilizing grants that have been awarded by the U.S. Department of Energy – the State Energy Program (SEP) and the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP).
2017 Guam Tropical Energy Code (GTEC): The Guam Tropical Energy Code (GTEC) was signed into law on January 22, 2021 as P.L. 35-145 (in effect as of January 22, 2023). The GTEC provides common construction requirements that will improve energy conservation within any new residential and non-residential building construction or renovation. GTEC WORKSHOP : The Guam Energy Office, in partnership with the Guam Building Code Council, would like to thank every one who participated at the workshop as well as our presenters, Guam Power Authority, Dept. of Public Works, and the Guam Building Code Council held on March 22, 2023. Weatherization Assistance Program: Apply today for FREE energy saving services to help reduce your energy costs. Energy saving services may include the replacement of a refrigerator and or air conditioners, the installation of LED light bulbs, weather-stripping/infiltration, low-flow faucet aerators/showerheads, smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, and other energy saving measures. Complete the Application and contact our office for an appointment at (671) 649-4362.
COVID-19 ADVISORY: On May 28, 2020, Governor Lourdes Leon Guerrero signed Executive Order (EO) 2020-16 relative to allowing additional activities during Pandemic Condition of Readiness (PCOR) 2. Effective June 1, 2020, all GovGuam offices, agencies, and departments will recommence public operations. The Guam Energy Office will open for business starting Monday, June 1, 2020 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Continued compliance with Social Distancing rules will be strictly enforced; thus, services will be limited to those with appointments only. ABSOLUTELY NO WALK-INS WILL BE ENTERTAINED under PCOR 1 & 2. All clients must adhere to Guam Energy Office’s COVID-19 Building policy. All visitors must wear a mask to be permitted entry into the building.
